temperate reality Saturday, April 5 2008
setting: rural Hurley Township, Ulster County, New York, United States of America
It was nice to be home in rural New York at this time of year. Weather can be shitty in early April, but nature let us down easy in our transition from tropical paradise to temperate reality. The weather had become decidedly warmer than it had been back when we'd left for Costa Rica.
This evening Penny and David came over for a simple dinner of spaghetti and vegan "meatballs." Gretchen had also prepared some semi-carmelized cauliflower, which is always a favorite.
I offered Penny and David some of my homemade hard cider (which I make using an airlock, baking yeast, and benign neglect), and though they were polite, they didn't seem to like it. Gretchen, however, preferred my cider to the wine (which she said was too tanniny for her).
