ice dam holiday Tuesday, February 3 2009
The day was overcast and a light snow fell almost continuously, adding up to less than an inch. Temperatures hovered around freezing, but because there was no sun there was no appreciable melting from the roof, and thus the ice dams sent no noticeable amounts of water into the house.
I spent much of the day trying to shepherd a viable version of OSX 10.5 (Leopard) onto my Mac Mini, which has obstinately refused to boot from any of the install DVDs I've prepared. True, I'd obtained them from BitTorrent and RapidShare, but usually the stuff I get that way is good. My luck with installing viable OSes in a Macintosh is only a little better than my luck with installing flavors of Linux. (Typically with a random laptop I have a Linux installation success rate of less than 20%.)
