men singing rock with women Thursday, September 10 2009
I don't know when it happened, but at some point I became a sucker for male/female rock and roll vocal duets. Such duets are relatively uncommon in classic rock (at least if you exclude those of Stevie Nicks), but they are common in alternative rock. I'm reminded of my love for them by the song "Tear Gas" by Basement Apartment, but there are enough examples to make a great mix tape (yeah I did say tape, though I'd never actually make one): "Kissing Families" by Silversun Pickups, "Mind Blindness" by Dirty on Purpose, "Secrets" by Citizens Here and Abroad, "All the People" by Jets Overhead, and anything by X. I know, I know, that collection is nearly as white as the Republican Party.
