Charlotte disoriented

During my Friday remote workday, one of our other moderately-famous actor friends J came over with is aspergery brother, both of whom were born in Slovenia. I joined them and Gretchen for a brief time out on the east deck, where I mostly talked about plants and mushrooms. This included me telling the tale of time my college fungi class gathered laughing jims from the forest. I'm not always great fun to be around when we have guests over, but I could tell I was doing a good job today, because Gretchen was beaming the whole time.
Gretchen then took the two gentlemen off to see my stone walls while I returned to work. But by then I was worried about Charlotte, who hadn't yet returned from her morning walk with Gretchen and the batttery of the PitPat tracker she was wearing had gone "flat" (as they say in the country where the PitPat is popular). So after our visitors left, Gretchen set off on an eBike up the Farm Road to the vicinity of where she'd last seen Charlotte. She reportedly called out to Charlotte from near the end of the Farm Road and heard her bark in response. But then Charlotte went silent for awhile before barking again. When Gretchen finally found her, she seemed listless and reluctant to go in some directions. But she wasn't injured. Perhaps she was disoriented from dehydration. Eventually Gretchen managed to convince her to come home via the Stick Trail, though by the time they returned, Gretchen was too exhausted to retrieve the eBike, so I hiked up the Farm Road to get it.
At 3:30pm, we packed up our car and drove up to our Adirondack cabin. As usual, we stopped near the gate so Gretchen and Charlotte could hike the last mile in. Temperatures had been in the 80s when we left Hurley, but they were way down in the low 60s at the cabin. Fortunately, it was warm inside from when it was warmer and sunnier.
