I woke up at 4:00am this morning feeling ready to begin my day, as it was 10:00am in the timezone I'd just spent over a week in. I drank a little booze and managed to fall asleep, waking again at around 9:00am.
Eventually I took Charlotte on a walk up the Farm Road and back via a route through the scrub forest to its west. Neville initially seemed like he might come as well, but he didn't make it far before returning home.

I spent much of the day further improving the ad hoc framework that undergirds the web-based admin tools for my ESP8266 Remote Control system. While on the river boat cruise, I'd added ways to easily make it so I could edit items in a table whose descriptions were coming from a join to a different table. Today, with some help from ChatGPT, I figured out how to make it so that inserts that were happening to the non-label table would result in a change to an embedded Javascript call allowing the freshly-inserted data to then be edited without a page refresh ever needing to take place. Later this evening, I applied a similar trick to an embedded Javascript call responsible for deleting such records. At this point, there is lots of infrastructure allowing me to implement just about any sort of data edit involving even the most complex relationships among tables. I'd had a primitive version of this sort of thing in Tableform, my first comprehensive (and generic) database tool, and it was amazing given how little configuration it required. But there was no easy way to implement the kind of editor I'd just perfected.

This evening, I drove out to 9W mostly to get bottom-shelf booze for the laboratory (I'd taken pseudoephedrine and was in a mood to drink). Since I was also going to Lowes, the liquor store in this case was Fitz's Liquor. I wanted a half gallon of cheap gin, but the didn't seem to sell gin in containers larger than a liter. So I bought a half gallon of Traveler's Club vodka instead, and it was only $12 (which is an unheard of price these days). But back at the house when I added it to some watered-down cherry juice, I found it had almost no flavor. The strong drink I'd just fixed didn't taste like it contained any booze! How was this possible? I checked the label and it was 80 proof, so that wasn't the problem. I'm still mystified.
