see also: Energy in a Real World Virginians for Wilderness Forests of the Appalachians | Tuesday, June 7, 1977 Planted 4-15' rows of Country Gentleman sweet corn and 4-15' rows of Golden Cross Bantam hybrid sweet corn in the creek garden on soil previously spread with wood chip-manure compost. Placed into operation soaker hose on sweet potatoes of the slope garden. Noted particularly good results on cabbage of slope garden and cauliflower of creek garden, which I attributed to my careful watering and hoeing. I went over all cabbages in the slope garden and noted only about 5 green worms. There are also a few potato beetle larvae, but these are easily taken care of by hand. The weather is very cool after a dry cold front last night. I also began to water strawberries. I picked about 3 quarts of edible podded peas, freezing two. I also cut another patch of hay on the flood plain. 15 eggs today. (edit)
