see also: Energy in a Real World Virginians for Wilderness Forests of the Appalachians | Friday, June 10, 1977 Hoed the hill peanut patch. The field corn is about 1. 5' high now. Weeds in the field corn: sheep sorrel, common ragweed, common burdock, horse nettle, lamb's quarters and wood sorrel. I discovered a a yellowish green "cutworm", several actually to each plant, from tiny to about 3/4 inch attacking parsnip jus below the ground and destroyed a number of my plants. I planted Small Sugar pumpkin and Butternut squash in gaps in the corn of the slope garden. Planted 2 hills each of SB watermelon and Honeyrock cataloupe in the slope garden over chicken manure compost as before. 17 eggs today. (edit)
