see also: Energy in a Real World Virginians for Wilderness Forests of the Appalachians | Saturday, July 10, 1976 Picked a basket of cabbage today for sour kraut. A few potato beetles continue to appear as well as a number of bean beetles. Yesterday i dug first potatoes, which we are eating now. Most of garden is quite good except for beans. We had the first of these last night, but not even enough for a meal. I had very good luck in germination of black-eyed peas and kidney beans planted in the slope garden. Also noted that two of my tomatoes (unknown variety as yet) are apparently infected by a wilt and one of those infected, earliest has been stunted in its growth relative to the others. Bought another 100 lb bag of chick grower. (edit) I planted 2-20' bands of R-C Chantenay carrots in the creek garden under a compost layer. (edit)
