see also: Energy in a Real World Virginians for Wilderness Forests of the Appalachians | Sunday, October 2, 1977 I went on my first pollution field trip (South River) [This marks the beginning of a gradual transition from homesteading to environmental activism.] We got a J. J. Warren rooster from Bates. Forager, our old Rock Cornish rooster, who has been sick because of a swollen foot is now crowing and zapped his first hen in a long time-probably due to the stimulus of the new rooster. We had cut Forager's foot open some time ago to let it drain. We got 14 eggs today (includin a very small one). I began harvesting winter squash and pumpkins. I'm also drying apples. (edit)
