see also: Energy in a Real World Virginians for Wilderness Forests of the Appalachians | Tuesday, August 1, 1978 Rain from heavy thunderstorms last night-for the second night in a row, and I was in the tent. But the raccoons had already gotten into the hill sweet corn before dark! However they didn't get in more while I was there-I think. Shaner (and friends ) came and moved the bees to our bee yard from the flood plain where they had been a week or more. Now we anticipate trouble with them returning. Already this morning some have returned. Some trouble from bees this morning but their numbers at the former hive position diminished in the afternoon, particularly after heavy rain. Shaner (senior) came to look at the situation this evening. 5 eggs today. Bought 100 lbs each of corn and oats. (edit)
