light charge - Wednesday October 28 1998
I'm more secure with my bicycle commute now that I have an extremely bright red light blinking in the back as I ride home in the darkness. I did a little calculation in my head about what my commute is going to cost me in batteries on a monthly basis. It might be as much as five dollars. As frugal as I am, I generally keep my front light off when I'm riding; there's plenty of street illumination and it's just there for legal reasons should a cop pull me over. I have been known to use it as a flashlight once I get home.
Tonight it helped me change motherboards in my cabana computer. I didn't realize until after lots of frustrating testing that Windows 98 doesn't start showing serial mouse activity until after you click the button that says no mouse is attached.
