green parrots of Ocean Beach - Wednesday June 23 1999    

The flocks of green parrots show up in Ocean Beach in late February or so. Their murderous screams are a surprising though only occasional thing at first, but gradually the human newcomers become acquainted with the sound as more parrots arrive and the overall amount of squawking and screaching increases. But they're never as much of an unwelcomed awakening as the V-twin Harleys setting off car alarms up and down Cable Street in the cold clammy dead of the Ocean Beach night.
