An artist displayed a collection of journals consisting of the dried coffee rings from various coffees he'd enjoyed in various places. The journals were filed away in a simple shelf mounted to the wall. Since there was no security of any sort on the gallery floor, Gretchen pulled one of the journals out and thumbed through it, allowing me to take this picture. Indeed, security was so lax that she could have stuck it under her jacket and taken it with her as a souvenir. Iceland, we were learning, is an extremely trusting society, one where people use dental floss to lock their expensive mountain bikes.
