Like my brownhouse:
as big as a basketball court
Thursday, March 30 2017
It was another warm(ish) day, though eventually at around 6:00pm Gretchen started a fire in the woodstove. In among the tasks of my remote workplace workday, I continued cleaning the main floor of the laboratory. (I'm leaving the cluttered tables along the edge for another day.) By this evening, the floor was clear and seemed as big as a basketball court.

Near the end of the workday, there was a bit of a bungle with migrating the email server to new hardware. The plan was to redirect the traffic to a temporary server and log all the incoming data to text files while the server's software was installed on brand new hardware. But there was not only a problem with the propagation of DNS information for the temporary logging server (actually a virtual server). But there was also the problem with the SSL functionality on the temporary server. Superimposed on all this was the fact that it was "date night" for Dan and Da has a new girlfriend who has become the main focus of his life. So both of them had to split without things working correctly. And I didn't have the access to do anything with the DNS stuff or knowledge of what SSL certificates to try (both sectors for which my knowledge is so incomplete that I'm always forced to experiment until things start working even under the best conditions). But nobody else seemed too concerned with the possible loss of data, so I decided not to worry about it either.
