not much arbitrage on eBay Monday, August 16 2021
In between other things today, I worked to get my second, slightly-slower AMD-Ryzen-based desktop working today. In so doing, I confirmed that one of the DDR4 RAM sticks I'd bought on eBay was defective, something I'd thought initially, gotten a refund for, but then had evidence perhaps it worked after all. My experience with buying commodity electronics on eBay has probably been worth the discount of those electronics, but only just, which suggests there aren't much if any arbitrage opportunities in the eBay economy. Part of what I was doing today was trying to get a 500 GB M.2 SSD drive to boot the new Ryzen-based computer, but for whatever reason it refused to, either because that's what happens when you buy used electronics on eBay or because of some subtle Windows 10 issue (I'm thinking the latter).
Meanwhile Gretchen was having dinner elsewhere with a friend for the second evening in a row (yesterday it was with Powerful, who has gone back to Allbany). This was how I came to make such a big sandwich that I couldn't eat it all (and it what was leftover was too messy to keep) and then climb in bed early, where I watched stupid automotive disaster videos on YouTube. I also watched a little To Catch a Predator material, mostly to see if new content had come out since I was last interested in that stuff. (It hadn't.)
