rural Hurley Township, Ulster County, New York, USA

It was the first day back to work, and I began early, before there was any real light in the east. On standard time, it doesn't even get very light outside until well after 7:00am. Of course, I was still biologically on Central European Time, and I would've been restless and bored had I remained in bed. I hadn't felt like I'd accomplished all the work-related tasks I'd wanted to over my vacation (not all of which I'd taken as vacation days), so I wanted to catch up a little. Mostly all I managed to do was wrangle code off my laptop into The Organization's code repository. The internet had been so shitty on the boat that I hadn't bothered with the niceties of git push and pull requests. Despite the fact that I'd gotten up so early and my Pacific-time workday went to nearly 3:00am Central European Time, I didn't really get sleepy until my workday was done. And then I went immediately to bed.
