Your leaking thatched hut during the restoration of a pre-Enlightenment state.

Hello, my name is Judas Gutenberg and this is my blaag (pronounced as you would the vomit noise "hyroop-bleuach").

Like my brownhouse:
pretty weak basis for a laptop
Monday, December 5 2022

location: rural Hurley Township, Ulster County, NY

Though I continue to hack up enormous amount of phlegm and blowing my nose so often that the skin beneath my nose has become raw, I'm otherwise healthy. I was even able to bring home a very heavy backpack load of chestnut oak from the bluff above the Chamomile during my noon lunch break.

I don't multitask well, but modern computer technology compels us all to multitask. Usually this involves a fair amount of watching of brain-dead YouTube videos, but today I was also tinkering with a PiTop 2.0, a laptop-like shell for a Raspberry Pi 3. PiTops were sold for about $300 back when the Raspberry Pi 3 was new, but now they can be had for about $100, which seemed like a good deal for a full HD 1920 X 1080 screen, a full-size keyboard, a palmrest trackpad, and an easily-opened hatch with a breadboard for tinkering. This is my dream environment for tinkering with a non-headless Raspberry Pi, and I suspect I'll have a lot of fun with it. The Raspberry Pi 3 is a pretty weak basis for a laptop, but even it can allow for some light web surfing and even watching YouTube videos. Getting the damn thing working wasn't as much of a breeze as this kid-friendly device seemed to promise; the trick was getting a weird rubbery USB connector to make correctly with the Raspberry Pi.

At the end of the workday, I made a spaghetti with fried tempeh, mushrooms, and onions. But then Gretchen said she'd be working late, so I went and took a bath without ever telling her I'd made dinner. So when she finally came home, she brought take-out from Yum Yum. My portion of this consisted of skewered seitan and tofu tacos. We had dinner in front of the television, as usual, though instead of Jeopardy!, we watched the fifth and sixth episodes of this season of White Lotus.
