defacatory funzone door Tuesday, October 13 2009
Sarah the Korean left early this morning. We still had plenty of leftover Mexican food and dirty dishes for me to wash when I found the time, which I eventually did in amongst my schedule of remote web development (which never ends up being as busy as I fear it will).
This evening I worked on the thin closet door I've decided to use as a door for the new brownhouse (aka "defacatory funzone"). The closet door was figured designed for sliding along a track, but today I figured out how to give it a conventional set of door knobs. The limiting factor for prospective doors is the thickness of the bolt that is moved back and forth by the rotation of the knob. The instructions for the knob I was installing told me that the hole to bore for this bolt should be an inch in diameter, but I ran a test and determined that I could go 15/16 inch instead. The space between the luan panels of the door was only an inch, and I wanted at least a trace of that intra-luan wood to remain to remain along the door's edge to support its structure.
