   life with herbal tea
Tuesday, November 22 2011

On Tuesdays such as today, I live like a Mormon. I don't take any drugs, particularly not alcohol or caffeine. Over the past month and a half, I've learned to enjoy copious amounts of herbal tea, which on most days under my present self-enforced behavioral rules is the only recreational beverage I allow myself to drink before 8:00pm. Pharmacologically and nutritionally speaking, herbal tea is inherently unsatisfying. But it's hot, and it's something to engage my hands and my mouth, so, in the absence of anything else, it's something I've come to crave. I'm not used to drinking so much non-diuretic water, and I think it's had a good effect on my skin, which has become smoother and taken on a better color.
